UNSCEAR liaises with the following organizations:

I. United Nations System

International Intergovernmental Organizations within the UN family:

UN

United Nations - The United Nations has four objectives according to its 1945 charter:

  • to maintain international peace and security;
  • to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of people;
  • to cooperate in solving international economic, social, cultural and humanitarian problems and in promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;
  • to be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in attaining these common ends.

UNEP

United Nations Environment Programme - (UNEP) was established by the Stockholm Conference of 1972 as the environmental conscience of the United Nations system. Shortly thereafter, the UNSCEAR secretariat was functionally linked with UN Environment.

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, UNEP's mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

IAEA

International Atomic Energy Agency - Established in 1957 within the United Nations family, the organization aim is to seek to accelerate and enlarge the contribution of atomic energy to peace, health and prosperity throughout the world. It shall ensure, so far as it is able, that assistance provided by it or at its request or under its supervision or control is not used in such a way as to further any military purpose.

ICAO

International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO is funded and directed by 193 national governments to support their diplomacy and cooperation in air transport as signatory states to the Chicago Convention (1944).

ILO

International Labour Organization - Founded in 1919, the International Labour Organization is the UN specialized agency which seeks the promotion of social justice and internationally recognized human and labour rights. It has an interest in the radiation protection of workers.

WHO

World Health Organization - The WHO is the United Nations specialized agency for health. Established in 1948, WHO's objective is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health.
