Dr Anu Ghosh is a Senior Scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and Professor of Life Science at Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, India.
She received her graduate degree in Biochemistry from Delhi University and Masters degree in Biotechnology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. She obtained her PhD in Life Sciences from Mumbai University, India and conducted her post-doctoral research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, USA.
Since 1995, she has been working in BARC under the low dose radiation research program to better assess health effects of low-dose radiation and address uncertainties in risk estimates for the low dose/low dose-rate exposures. Her other current research areas are concerned with understanding relative radiobiological effectiveness of proton irradiation vis à vis ionizing radiation and role of non-targeted (bystander) effects with an aim to generate relevant information for clinical cancer radiotherapy.
Dr Ghosh has served as the alternate representative of India at the 64th (2017) and 65th (2018) session of UNSCEAR, and again since the 70th session of UNSCEAR in 2023. She contributed as an expert at the IAEA Consultancy meetings held in Fukushima in 2019 and in Hiroshima in 2021 for the NA9_30 Project on “STS education support on return in the context of low-dose radiation”.
