Dr. Mohamed Reda Ezz El-Din is Professor Emeritus of radiation protection at the Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority (EAEA) and Former Chairman of the Egyptian Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority. He is a researcher in the field of radiation protection and radioactive waste management in the radiation protection department at the Nuclear and Radiological Research Safety Centre of EAEA.
Dr. Ezz El-Din was a member of the IAEA Radiation Safety Standards Committee from 2014 to 2017 and a member of the IAEA Commission of Safety Standards from 2016 to 2023. In 2009, he became a member of IAEA’s Forum of Nuclear Regulatory Bodies in Africa and was elected as Vice-Chair from 2013 to 2015 and General Secretary from 2015 to 2017.
Dr. Ezz El-Din holds a Master's degree in Environmental Radiation Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Radioactive waste treatment from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.
Dr. Ezz El-Din main fields of scientific interest are radiation protection for industrial applications and environmental radiation protection. He is a radiation protection expert and a member of the central emergency committee at the EAEA.
Dr. Ezz El-Din is the representative of Egypt to UNSCEAR for its 70th session in 2023.
Dr. Ahmed Abdelaal is a Senior Researcher at Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority.
Dr. Abdelaal holds a bachelor’s degree in the field of Science, Physics and Chemistry from Cairo University-Fayoum branch and a master’s degree in Chemistry from Beni Suef University and a doctorate in Environmental science from University of Nottingham, United Kingdom.
During his professional life Dr. Abdelaal has participated in many international and scientific conferences and has been part of numerous scientific publications.
Dr. Abdelaal is alternate representative of Egypt to UNSCEAR for its seventieth session in 2023.
